  On 20 February 2012, Stuart Forsyth, Assistant Commissioner Superannuation gave a speech to the SMSF Professionals Association of Australia (SPAA) 2012 SMSF National Conference (15 - 17 February 2012) 'Grow with SMSF'.

  One of the main focuses of his speech was in relation to audits. Some areas that were highlighted were:

  - Auditor independence
  - Transactions with related parties
  - Illegal early release
  - Penalties and education
