Associate (ATMA)
For Accountants who have completed a TAFE Diploma in Accounting; or Graduates with degrees in Administration, Banking and Finance, Law, Local Government, Management or Marketing.
‘ASSOCIATES’ must complete a Professional Upgrade Program (PUP) at an Australian University or
equivalent within five (5) years of joining the ATMA to advance to ‘MEMBER’ status.
ATMA members in Public Practice are required to hold a Public Practice Certificate (PPC).
ATMA members entering Public Practice are required to complete the ATMA PPC program before a PPC will be issued.
For admission to the ATMA every applicant shall:
a. Apply in writing on the prescribed form and pay the prescribed fee for admission;
b. Provide documentary evidence of being the holder of Australia Tertiary qualifications approved by General council or of overseas qualifications approved by General Council;
c. Comply with such other conditions and possess such other qualifications as determined by General Council -
Member (MTMA)
For Accountants who have completed a Degree with an Accounting Major from an Australian University or College of Advanced Education.
‘MEMBERS’ may advance to ‘FELLOW’ status by either applying for an upgrade after they have been qualified for 10 years or more, or by completing post graduate studies leading to a Masters Degree or Post Graduate Diploma with an Accounting emphasis

Fellow (FTMA)
For Accountants who fulfil the conditions for admission as a member and have been qualified for 10 years or more; or Accountants who have completed post graduate studies leading to a Masters Degree, or holders of Post Graduate Diplomas with an Accounting emphasis.

Certified Bookkeeper (ATMA CBK)
Bookkeepers who have completed a Certificate IV in Financial Services are invited to join the ATMA at this level. This level was created to assist bookkeepers who where undertaking limited bookkeeping activities including BAS services and met the requirements of the old regime.ATMA CBK provides a commitment to high standards, professionalism, recognition and status for self employed bookkeepers, payroll officers, BAS Agents, assistant accountants, accounts payable / receivable officers and other accounting support staff. This is a non voting level of the ATMA.
‘ATMA CBK’ must have completed a Certificate IV in Financial Services (accounting/bookkeeping), or already be registered as a BAS Service Provider.

Corporate Membership Australia
This level of membership was designed for corporate bodies to join the ATMA at a special level of membership. A membership certificate will be issued. Corporate members are not eligible to hold an ATMA Public Practice Certificate. They are not eligible to stand for the General Council or vote at Annual General Meetings.
A Corporate member will be entitled to have 5 employees attend ATMA Professional Development activities at member rates. -
Affiliate Member
The Affiliate level of membership is a grade of membership that allows those who do not meet the requirements for higher membership levels. It was introduced to make the ATMA more accessible to those persons considering a career in accounting or studying for an accounting qualification. No formal qualifications are needed to join the ATMA at the Affiliate level. You remain an Affiliate member until you meet the requirements for any of the professional levels of membership. A membership certificate will be issued. Affiliates are not eligible to hold an ATMA Public Practice Certificate. Nor are they eligible to stand for the General Council or vote at Annual General meetings. A members' handbook can be purchased from the ATMA. This is a non voting level of the ATMA.

Student Membership
For students of Taxation Law and Taxation / Management Accounting.
ATMA Student Members who apply for advancement of membership within one year of completing their course are not required to pay the Application Fee. -
International Member
This level of membership was introduced to allow overseas qualified accountants to join the ATMA at a level of membership based on their existing qualifications. This level of membership was introduced to allow members of any overseas accounting association to gain a level of ATMA membership. International members will be able to advance their standing within ATMA by examination. They are not eligible to hold an ATMA Public Practice Certificate or vote at Annual General Meetings. A member's handbook can be purchased from the ATMA.

Public Practice Certificate (PPC)
ATMA MEMBERS IN PUBLIC PRACTICE MUST HOLD A CURRENT ATMA PPC
You may apply for an ATMA PPC if you are an ATMA member and either:
i. have completed the Graduate Certificate in Public Practice; OR
ii. hold a current PPC with the ICAA, CPAA or NIA; OR
iii. are a Registered Tax Agent.To accompany this application there should be either:
i. a certified copy of the Graduate Certificate in Public Practice; OR
ii. a certified copy of a current PPC from either the CPAA or ICAA; OR
iii. a certified copy of a current NIA PPC, with details of completion of an NIA Graduate Management Program and Public Practice Orientation Program; OR
iv. a certified copy of Registered Tax Agents’ Certificate.You will be required to complete a two day ATMA Public Practice Program.

Certified Bookkeepers Public Practice Certificate (CBK PPC)
You may apply for an ATMA CBK PPC if you are an ATMA CBK member and either:
i. Have completed a Certificate IV Financial Service; OR
ii. Are already registered as a BAS Agent
To accompany this application there should be either:
i. a certified copy of Certificate IV Financial Services; OR
ii. a certified copy of registration of BAS Agent
You will be required to complete a one day ATMA CBK Public Practice Program within 12 months.
